Threshold constraints on the size, shape and stability of alluvial rivers
نویسندگان
چکیده
The geometry of alluvial river channels both controls and adjusts to the flow water sediment within them. This feedback between form modulates flood risk, impacts climate land-use change. Considering widely varying hydro-climates, supply, geology vegetation, it is surprising that rivers follow remarkably consistent hydraulic scaling relations. In this Perspective, we explore factors governing channel geometry, specifically how threshold motion constrains size shape channels. We highlight utility near-threshold model as a suitable framework explain average stability channels, show deviations relate complex higher-order behaviours. Further characterization transport adjustment timescales, coupled with probabilistic descriptions promise development future models capable capturing rivers’ natural complexity. control adjust sediment, consequences for flooding ecological habitat. Perspective examines entrainment size, dynamics rivers.

Effect of Cell Size and Shape on Electric Field Threshold and Critical Transmembrane Voltage for Electroporation
Introduction: Electroporation is a technique for increasing the permeability of the cell membrane to otherwise non-permeate molecules due to an external electric field. This permeability enhancement is detectable if the induced transmembrane voltage becomes greater than a critical value which depends on the pulse strength threshold. In this study, the variabil...
متن کاملON THE STABILITY AND THRESHOLD ANALYSIS OF AN EPIDEMIC MODEL
We consider a mathematical model of epidemic spread in which the population is partitioned into five compartments of susceptible S(t), Infected I(t), Removed R(t), Prevented U(t) and the Controlled W(t). We assume each of the compartments comprises of cohorts of individuals which are identical with respect to the disease status. We derive five systems of equations to represent each of the ...
متن کاملon translation of phatic communion and socio-cultural relationships between the characters of the novels
phatic communion is a cultural concept which differs across cultures. according to hofstede (2001), the u.s. tends to have individualistic culture; however, asian countries tend to have collectivistic cultures. these cultures view phatic communion differently. in individualistic cultures like u.s., phatic communion reflects speakers’ socio-cultural relationships in conversations. to see whether...
